Chief Petty Officer John “Jock” MUNRO, one wartime TELEGRAPHIST AIR GUNNER of 816 & 845 SQNs to represent all the RN “TAGs”, especially those flying in the primitive but remarkably effective Swordfish “Stringbags”, the (only British pre-war operational aircraft to finish WW2 still operational & the same aircraft), here on convoy protection & anti E-boats; also for AVENGER OPERATIONS (at times with pilot, later Vice-Adm Gus Halliday DSC) flying over HOME WATERS & the ATLANTIC (then often with Lt later Rear-Adm David KIRKE CB CBE RN), and later with the EAST INDIES FLEET for the important raids on the Songei Gerong PALEMBANG OIL REFINERY installations 29 Jan 1945.
