Flt Lt Douglas H SUTCLIFFE: ROYAL AIR FORCE WIRELESS AIR GUNNER and AIR GUNNERY INSTRUCTOR, for INDIA & BURMA & flew 756 OPERATIONAL HOURS in three years & six months with 139 and 62 SQUADRONS, BOMBING & as one of the first LOADMASTERS ever, dispatchers on vital LANDING in or AIR DROPPING of SUPPLIES to XIVth ARMY & CHINDITS (into BROADWAY), the 81st WEST AFRICAN DIVISION (ARAKAN), GURKHAS (CHOWRINGHEE), IMPHAL, KOHIMA etc in BURMA from HUDSONS & DAKOTAS, food, ammunition, guns, tank tracks & parts, mules & many other items, FLYING OUT with CASUALTIES; lost many good friends on 62 SQN; also Anthony Eden’s elder son, Simon, who was killed just on his Plt Off promotion 21 Jun 1945.
